Mayaseed

Mayaseed was a software project I worked on between 2010-14.

I've always been interested in software, but for many years I struggled find a way to learn the craft. While I was studying at film school, a friend offered to help me get involved in his open source renderer project, Appleseed - his offer of help made all the difference.

Mayaseed was a plugin used to allow the Appleseed renderer to talk to Maya, a 3D DCC app. I ended up using the tool on a number of my commercial projects.

Mayaseed is long defunct, but the project means a lot to me. These days, most of my work is concerned with making software that tells stories, in many ways this project kicked off that path of exploration.
